ABOUT 'UPSIDE DOWN':
A song in the works since the first season of "Stranger Things" aired in 2016, poet, songwriter, and vocalist Leslie Benson wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies, inspired by the retro-style '80s sci-fi series, to a friend's synthpop track. When that collaboration changed gears, she saved the song and put it on the back burner.
Six years later, as the newest member of Nashville-based industrial rock band God in Rehab, she resurrected the idea and asked guitarist Spookie Rollings and drummer Matt Hosafros to rewrite the music. The result is a hard-edged, aggressive wall of sound with an underlying seductive playfulness and curiosity for all things upside down. As above, so below.

LYRICS:
Another night,
another reason to stay inside
this silence.
I’m in denial,
I never want to give into this,
this darkness.
I toss and turn until my body aches.
I hold it tight until it suffocates.
From deep inside I hear a knocking sound.
Watch me turn your world upside down.
I found a way
to slip into a
deeper sleep.
I’m drowning.
It’s in decay.
The world above,
As so below …
dream walking.
I think about it every night and day.
I want to save you
but you run away.
I never felt this ‘til you came along.
Watch me turn your world upside down.
Watch me turn your world
Watch me turn your world
Watch me turn your world
upside down.
Watch me turn your world
Watch me turn your world
Watch me turn your world
upside down.
I think there’s been a mistake.
This is all I can take.
Didn’t think this through.
I did it all for you.
I think there’s been a mistake.
This is all I can take.
Didn’t think this through.
I did it all for you.
I can’t escape it when I close my eyes.
This kind of love will leave you paralyzed.
I want to hurt you, though I know it’s wrong.
Inside out when you’re upside down.
I can’t escape the things I’ve done to you.
I think about the things I want to do.
There’s no denying where I belong.
Now I find myself upside down.
